Flake ice has a large, flat surface area that contacts produce evenly, cooling vegetables, fruits and flowers rapidly without causing bruising or damage. Its smooth edges will not pierce delicate skins, and it can be spread uniformly across bins, crates and conveyor belts for consistent temperature control.
After harvest, vegetables and fruits undergo field heat that accelerates spoilage. Flake ice machines produce ice in under 2 minutes and deliver it directly onto produce, rapidly lowering the temperature to near 0°C. This removes field heat, slows respiration and extends shelf life by days or even weeks.
Flake ice has a flat, thin shape (1.5–2.2 mm thick) that provides maximum contact area for rapid, even cooling without damaging produce. Cube ice is solid and harder, better suited for beverage cooling in catering. For agriculture, flake ice is the industry standard because it conforms to the shape of any container and cools uniformly.
Small farms with limited output may need a 1-ton-per-day machine (KP10), while large-scale operations with multiple crop lines may require 10–50 tons per day (KP100 to KP500). Koller offers models from 1 à 50 tonnes/jour, and our engineers can help you size the right machine based on your daily harvest volume and cooling requirements.
Oui. Koller walk-in coolers maintain temperatures from -12°C to +5°C, ideal for fresh produce storage. Walk-in freezers hold -25°C to -12°C for longer-term preservation. Panel material, room dimensions, door type and temperature are all customizable to match your crop type and storage volume.
Koller blast freezers reach -30°C to -40°C, enabling rapid freezing that locks in freshness, texture and nutrients. This is essential for berries, mushrooms, herbs and other produce that needs to be frozen immediately after harvest or processing.
All machines carry a 1-year warranty covering free repairment and components. Beyond the warranty period, the same service is still provided at cost.
