10-Ton Flake Ice & Cold Storage Project for Morocco Fisheries

Morocco · Local Ice Supplier · KP100 · 10 Tons/Day · Cold Storage

Koller’s Morocco project began with a problem that could not be solved by an ice machine alone.

The customer was developing a local ice supply business serving nearby fishermen and seafood processors. The requirement was not only to produce flake ice, but also to hold enough ice in reserve so that it would be available when customers needed it.

Koller therefore supplied a KP100 flake ice machine rated at 10 tons per 24 hours together with a cold-storage solution.

For this project, storage was not an accessory. It was part of the business model.

Production Time and Selling Time Are Different

An ice machine produces according to its refrigeration cycle.

A fishery market does not buy ice according to that schedule.

Fishermen may require larger quantities before departure or around landing periods. Seafood processors can create additional demand depending on their production schedule. Several customers may arrive within a relatively short period even though the ice machine has been producing throughout the day.

That creates a timing gap.

The KP100 gives the Morocco customer 10 tons of rated daily production capacity. The cold room gives the business somewhere to hold that production until it is required.

This makes the project fundamentally different from Koller’s Indonesia KP100 installation.

Both use the same 10-ton model, but Indonesia consumes ice inside a seafood-processing operation. Morocco produces ice as inventory for other businesses.

The equipment may be similar. The commercial workflow is not.

Why Koller Supplied a Complete Production-and-Storage Setup

Koller’s project scope combined the KP100, refrigeration equipment, cold storage and installation support. The system was intended to help the customer produce, store and distribute flake ice for fishery and seafood-cooling applications.

This arrangement gives the customer more flexibility between production and dispatch.

If ice had to be collected immediately after it was made, customer demand would need to follow the machine’s production schedule much more closely. Stored inventory allows the supplier to build ice ahead of concentrated demand periods.

It also changes how a fishery ice project should be planned.

A buyer asking for a “10-ton flake ice machine” may actually need to answer two separate questions:

How much ice should the site produce each day?

And how much ice should it be able to hold at one time?

Those figures do not have to be identical.

Storage requirement depends on the timing and size of customer collections, desired reserve inventory, production schedule and how long ice normally remains on site.

For the Morocco project, combining production and storage allowed Koller to address both sides of that requirement rather than delivering a standalone machine.

From Equipment Delivery to Local Ice Supply

Koller also supported installation and commissioning, including equipment configuration, refrigeration-system inspection, trial production and operating guidance. Following testing, the system reached stable production for daily ice supply.

The completed project gave the customer a local source of flake ice for fishermen and seafood-processing companies, backed by dedicated storage capacity.

That is what makes this project useful as a Koller case study.

It is not simply another KP100 installation.

It shows how the same flake ice machine can become part of a very different solution depending on what happens after the ice is produced.

For fishery ice suppliers, the production machine determines how quickly inventory can be created. Storage determines how much of that inventory can be kept available for the market.

In Morocco, Koller designed those two functions as one project.
